Gene technology for the Environment: New Zealander’s Views, Hopes and Concerns
Gene technologies offer great potential for the environment, but also lead to serious concerns. This talk draws on 8 years of research and multiple large study to presents an overview of what New Zealanders think of the possible use of of gene tech for environmental purposes, such as conservation work. This includes a segmentation study of public on psychometric parameters, the effect of frames in shaping the discussion, and the outcome of a national dialogue to inform incoming policy changes.
The lecture will take place on Thursday, December 5th, 2024 at noon in the Lecture Hall B01.027, LMU Biozentrum, Großhaderner Str. 2, 82152 Planegg-Martinsried.
The Talk is co-organized by the Center for Life Sciences and Society at the Faculty of Biology, and the Munich Science Communication Lab (MSCL).
